An all-black stealth version of Youngstown's top selling Waterproof Winter Plus, the Military Work Glove Waterproof Winter (MWG Waterproof Winter) is designed for the rigorous non-combat tasks that soldiers must perform on a daily basis in cold, wet wintery conditions. It's an excellent, non-flashy, all-purpose and abrasion-resistant winterized performance work glove. This version comes in large, and it's also available in small, medium, X-large, and XX-large.

Waterproof Technology

Youngstown's waterproof technology separates this glove from other winter gloves. Numerous winter gloves in the market are simply "lined" but do not offer a moisture barrier membrane. Lined gloves are fine in dry conditions, but once precipitation is present, lined gloves lose their effectiveness--once your hand is wet it gets cold much sooner.

The MWG Waterproof Winter gloves feature a membrane that's waterproof, windproof, and breathable. This specialized membrane blocks the water from reaching your hand, keeping your hands warm and dry. At the same time, the membrane allows for your sweat to escape to help regulate comfort and temperature inside the glove.
Dual Functionality

Youngstown's focus has always been in the performance work glove realm, and its gloves are built to be as durable as possible while still maintaining dexterity and comfort. However, customers find unexpected uses for Youngstown gloves, such as biking, rock climbing, scuba diving, obstacle courses, horse riding, and more. This dual functionality of work and sport is extremely prevalent in Youngstown's winter models, with hunting, ice fishing, skiing, and snowboarding just some of the winter activities that this glove has found its way to.

A Note On Warmth

Temperature is subjective from person to person, and Youngstown have had users comment that their gloves didn't keep their hands warm and others say the glove was too hot. Youngstown designs its gloves to be as dexterous as possible while still providing warmth and waterproof technology, so different hands will have different reactions.

Additionally, your level of body movement can also determine your comfort level. If you are working and moving your core temperate will stay higher and as a result your hands will too. However, if you are sitting in freezing temperatures watching a ball game or not moving, your hands are more likely to get cold. Should you need protection in extremely cold temperatures, Youngstown recommends its Waterproof Winter XT and the 200 gram Thinsulate. However, if you are in cold, wet temperatures and doing work that requires dexterity and durability you will really appreciate these MWG Waterproof Winter gloves.
Sizing Your Glove

Use a cloth tape measure on the hand you use the most, and measure from crook between your thumb and index finger straight across to the base of the pinky and then all the way around back to where you started. Based on the circumference of your palm (excluding the thumb), here's a general guideline to sizing:
Unconditional Guarantee

Each customer has a different belief for the life expectancy of their gloves. Furthermore, it is not uncommon that the glove you have selected is not a match to the job you are performing. Because of this, Youngstown Glove offers its unconditional guarantee: If you are not satisfied with your gloves, Youngstown Glove will replace the pair or work with you to get you into the right model.

Where do I start to describe these awful gloves:

1. They have both a liner and the outer fabric (as well as plastic "wear" patches sewn onto the outer fabric), both sewn and both with seams; so there's a half inch of glove sticking out above your fingertips due to the double layer of seams (like 5 layers of fabric). So forget about any fingertip dexterity -- there isn't any in these gloves. Maybe ok for shoveling snow or digging ditches ... but see below.

2. The plastic wear patches that cover most of the gloves make you feel like the whole glove is made of stiff plastic. The gloves are inflexible as a result. Uncomfortable to make a fist. So not even good for closing your hand around a shovel -- snow or otherwise.

3. They are not warm. The cuffs don't fit snug -- even with the waist strap pulled tight -- so cold air comes up into your palms. The insulation in the glove is minimal. Your hands will be cold if it is cold.

4. And if it gets a...Read more

This review is from: Youngstown Glove 08-8450-80-M Military Work Glove - Waterproof Winter Medium (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought these gloves for my boyfriend who is a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Knox, KY. Winter months are very cold there and he spends a lot of time outside, during PT, field training, ruck marches, etc. His hands were freezing and any of the other gloves he had tried wouldn't hold up and he'd need a new pair after about a week or two, plus they weren't very warm. I decided to get him these gloves, mainly because they were called Military Work Gloves. I read the reviews on them and they were all pretty good. They are fit well, are comfortable, keep his hands warm, and are flexible which is important if you are shooting a weapon, etc. He even said they have a little place on the finger or thumb where you can wipe your dripping nose in the cold. Sounds gross, but apparently it's helpful. Overall, I recommend this product. I've heard no complaints from him.

They are fairly warm, and they afford more durability than say regular nylon winter gloves. But any notion of them being military grade is way off. Maybe the Chinese military because that's where they are made, not in Ohio like the name would suggest. I got XL and they are snug. I guess ppl people in china have smaller hands so do order a size larger than you think you might need because they run small. Other than my obvious complaint that these are not really made of heavy tough military grade materials, they are decently warm and have decent dexterity for a winter glove. I wouldn't want to wear these handling rough wood as I could see them getting torn easily especially on the back and sides. Also I think water-resistant woudl be a better label. You can submerge your hand in a bucket of water and your skin doesn't immediately get wet but the back and sides of the gloves hold a fair amount of water on the outside which then wicks down to the wrist over time and gets you wet, not to...Read more
