Summary: Suncast SP2750 27-Inch Snow Shovel Pusher 2008-12-21
Comment: I first found this "Pusher" snow shovel last winter (07-08) at a local store and was amazed how quickly snow can be removed with this shovel. It is no longer necessary to scoop and lift snow to clear a walk or driveway. Instead I push the snow like a snow plow. This kind of shovel works well where the underlying surface is smooth concrete and allows the shovel to glide over it without catching on anything uneven. This kind of snow shovel is difficult to find and I am happy to see that it is available at Amazon however it is currently out of stock. (darn! I need a new shovel!)

Of course a certain level of health and fitness is required to shovel snow. For the person who maintains a regular program of aerobic exercise and some level of strength training, using this shovel is fun and offers another mode of exercise. As an exercise physiologist, I can't think of any other mode of effective aerobic and strenght exercise that can be done with such an inexpensive piece of equipment. I have 300 feet of driveway and in most situations I like to remove snow with this shovel. I have a snow blower but rarely use it because I prefer to use this pusher shovel for snowfall that is not more than four or five inches and not terribly heavy/wet.

The plastic edge of the shovel is what allows it to glide over smooth concrete. A steel-edge shovel would not be as effective. However the plastic edge wears down requiring replacement of the shovel annually if used on a regular basis. If you are into fitness and live in the north, this is THE snow shovel to have.
