Product Review

For over thirty years Hopkins has shaped the winter snow and ice tools category. The wide blades on our ice scrapers clear away frost with fewer strokes and less effort, and the powerful ice chippers break up the thickest ice of the season. Our snowbrooms are capable of pushing the wettest, deepest snow from your entire vehicle.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I had invented this..., February 18, 2011

It's basically a 16" snow rake made out of "nerf ball" material. (NOTE: This model lacks the 'ice scraper' handle attachment, a model I also have reviewed. I own a few of both designs, and they are identical in performing the main job: clearing snow off your vehicle. The model with ice scraper is a few inches longer, due to the scraper. No big deal, IMHO. Personally, I like this model, as I use a separate, shorter ice scraper -- the scraper on the other 'Arctic Plow' model seems unwieldy to me.)

In my experience, this tool won't scratch your car, freeze or ice-up (as brooms do), or otherwise disappoint you ... with one proviso: As with another reviewer, I initially had trouble with the 'head' unscrewing from the handle after a few swipes. I then took a slip-jaw wrench and used its bite and leverage to screw the head on another click or two (yes, it does have a few clicks beyond maximum 'hand tightness'). I've never had a problem since. And believe me, there has NEVER been...Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak Plastic, February 2, 2011

It's a good thought, but needs redesigned. Broke the first time I used it. The plastic tip that hold the metal shaft to the snow plow snapped in half.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased with the Artic Plow over the Sno Brum, January 21, 2012

I own both the Sno Brum and the Artic Plow, and after a year of use, I found the the Artic Plow to be superior. Essentially they are the same item yet the Sno Brum's locking mechanism tends to give out under load and eventually fails over time. This has occurred with my original purchase as well the replacement which the Sno Brum folks were kind enough to offer. The second recurring problem with the Sno Brum had to do with the head threading off the pole while under use. This was particularly frustrating and led to this purchase. The Artic Plow is sturdier and I am pleased with its use. I have had purchased two of them and have yet to experience any problems.
