This is one tough snow shovel. It's heavy gauge steel with a strong wood handle. But, it's really only good for pushing snow around. Use this to push the snow along concrete or asphalt and then if you need to pile snow up, use something else. My last driveway was up against the house and I shared it with the next door neighbor. I had to push most snow the length of the house before I could pile it up. This saved a lot of time. On my new drive I can just push the snow off to each side - a task this shovel is ideal for. I use two shovels; this one to push the snow around and an aluminum "feed and grain" style shovel to move piles. Give it a shot of silicone spray before shoveling and the wet snow will peel right off. Much quieter than a blower and good exercise as well.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the rivets started to loosen after the first season - but after retightening them, everything is fine. You should also give it a coat of primer to keep any...Read more

If you are like me you have found that most places only carry poly- plastic or aluminum snow shovals anymore. I have used the same steel snow shoval for 30 years now and finally wore it out ealier this winter. I googled steel snow shovals and came across this 30" steel shoval. I purchased this one and also the 24" model. I have used both of them several times now and they are diffently far superior to any other snow shoval on the market. The aluminum version is lighter in weight and works fine but it will not scrape the driveway surface as well as the steel ones in a wet snow or a icy surface. The steel shovals are heavier and more strenuious to use but if you are strong and don't have back problems it is diffently the best choice. A steel shoval will also last a lot longer because it does not wear as quickly along the bottom edge as aluminum will. I normally don't write reviews but this product deserves a 5 star recognition.

I bought this shovel for my husband for Christmas for our back yard skating rink we built this year. We needed something steel to move the ice and snow and help smooth the surface out....it's heavy and does the job great. The wide blade makes for less passes on the rink and the weight of it is helpful. My husband loves the shovel and it works great for OUR BACKYARD NICERINK. Thank you
