Comment: This is perfect to keep in your car if you get stuck!!! I don't think it is strong enough to shovel coal or something like that everyday but thats not what its made for. For an emergency shovel this product is great and really inexpensive. I am buying a second one to put in my wife's car.

Summary: Shaft Slips when pressing into icy snow 2010-02-09
Comment: The Shovel when it arrived seemed decent, but the metal shaft definitely should be longer so you don't have to bend over as much. The real problem is when this shovel is put to the test shoveling heavy packed snow, the shaft has a tendency to slide back into the shovel head. What's worse is that the shaft no longer is locked to the piece that attaches to the shovel head. If I loosen the the tensioner, I'm able to pull the metal shaft apart.
I will be returning this shovel since it had such a hard time with my first use of it.

Comment: Description says shovel has a 37" shaft when extended. Not true. Total length of shaft and handle when extended is 29". Total length of shovel from blade end to handle is 37".

Comment: Sturdy and collapsible. Wide enough to shovel out your car and small enough to fit in the trunk. I got one for all the kids.
