I recently inherited a heavy duty Craftsman 2-stage snow thrower that had not been used for years. One of the first things I had to do was siphon out the gasoline that had been sitting in the tank for over 3 years, and replace the engine oil.
This Craftsman has a Briggs and Stratton engine that requires 5W30 grade oil. My first two attempts at locating this particular oil grade, at two leading retailers (one of them being the makers of this snow thrower), were unsuccessful.
Fortunately, I found this one on Amazon - and by B&S no less!
I'm a mechanical novice, and so can't speak to all the qualities of this oil.
However, my personal experience after this weekend's 4 inch snowfall, was that my snow thrower purred to life without a hitch - with a pull start ... didn't even need to use its electric starter! It then proceeded to run smooth, and cleaned up my driveway in record time.

I have not used this product as of yet. However, I have owned Briggs & Stratton products before and they are fabulous. I can not wait to use on my new Ariens Snow Blower that I recently purchased a few months ago. Winter is coming soon so be ready.
I would recommend sticking with this product if you own anything with a Briggs & Stratton motor on it.
