Contrary to Amazon's description, and the previous review, the shovel that I received has no metal wear strip - the blade is all plastic. It's on it's way back to Amazon.

We needed to replace our old snow shovel which we've owned for many years. Almost all of the new shovels have a thin metal strip on the end to help reduce wear on the shovel. While I'm sure that works to reduce wear it also makes the shovel almost worthless to remove snow - the strip catches and the shovel won't slide along the top of the sidewalk. This shovel has no such metal strip - it's all plastic and it works perfectly. We recently had a very heavy 12" snow and this shovel worked great. I would recommend this shovel to anyone. Sturdy, well designed and most importantly - it works very well. A bit pricy but worth the money.

I ordered this because we had a similar one that we loved, but this one, snapped in half in middle of the pole the first time we used it. Thirty bucks down the drain
